Do you have solar panels at home? Then somewhere, a little device is writing down what your panels produce — every few minutes, every single day. That's a treasure of information, hidden in boring spreadsheet files. Solar Cloud turns those files into clear, beautiful graphs you can check on your computer or your phone. Let me show you how it works — no technical knowledge needed.
It starts with a free account. Click 'Get started', type your name, your e-mail address and a password… and you're in. Your data is private — only you can see your systems.
Next, you create a system — that's simply your solar installation. Give it a name, like 'Sunny Home'. Now Solar Cloud needs your log files. Most loggers save one file per day. If your logger is on your home network, enter its address under 'SFTP server', press Save, and Solar Cloud will fetch today's file every few minutes, all by itself — even when you're not looking. Click 'Copy all earlier logs' once, and your whole history comes along. No logger on the network? No problem: just drag your files onto the page to upload them.
A log file is just a table of numbers. Solar Cloud shows every column it finds, with its latest value, so you can recognise them. Type what each one means — 'Solar' in watts, 'Battery' in percent, 'Outside temperature'. Logging in Fahrenheit, but prefer Celsius? Pick the conversion, done. Then choose which ones to show on your graph.
And here's the fun part. This is a summer day: the blue mountain is your solar power, red is what your home uses. Move your mouse, and you see the exact values at any moment. Want to compare? Choose 'two days', and the day before appears right underneath — so you spot a cloudy day, or a dirty panel, at a glance. Switch to Month to see every day's total, Year for every month, and Years to see how this year compares to the last. With 'Range' you can look at any period — the last six hours, or the last seven days. Drag across the graph to zoom in… and press 'Back' to return.
Have more than one installation — say, the house and the pool house? Combine them into one graph, and let Solar Cloud add them up for you. Right at the top you always see the big picture: what you produced today, your total since day one, and how much CO2 you saved.
Ever wondered whether a bad day was the weather — or your panels? Add free weather data for your zip code: sunlight on your panels, temperature, clouds, even wildfire smoke. Put it next to your production, and a low day explains itself.
Solar Cloud looks great on your phone, too. And if your logger ever stops sending data, you'll see a clear warning — and when it comes back, the missing days are filled in automatically.
So that's Solar Cloud: your solar panels' diary, finally easy to read. Create your free account, connect your logger, and start enjoying the view. Thanks for watching!
